No one had ever shown that [.] cells would form patterns of deposition that might match the patterns of stress. It was almost like the cells could tell there was a lot more force or stress in certain regions and those are the regions where the cells were starting to deposit new . sort of reinforcing of the scaffolding, maybe trying to compensate for weaknesses in the tissue there. The computer models were really important in giving us an idea of where those stresses might be.
